Bio:
I am a safety leader, widely recognized in Australia and internationally. I have worked in industries such as mining, construction, oil and gas, aviation, road transport, defence, healthcare, and engineering. I have worked as an Executive Director and board member, with board experience that includes NSW Health, Cater Care, and Art of Work.
The skills I possess revolve around connection and engagement across an organisation, as well as the ability to harness dormant latent expertise and capacity. Working for both government and industry, I had sponsored and led transformational change in the safety space.
In my role as a founding member of the Global Safety Differently movement, I have been on a mission to change the way we understand and regulate safety. It has become increasingly burdensome for organisations to comply with meaningless bureaucracy that has no relation to creating, maintaining, and producing successful and safe work.
My work in this area led to the creation of Safety Differently in 2012, and a journey of collaboration with an ever-increasing group of like-minded professionals and academics. I have worked globally to transform the way we understand and practice safety, governance and risk management.
Previously I worked for Sinclair Knight Merz as the Global General Manager for Safety and Wellness to deliver an international leading program for health safety environment and community (HSEC) in the engineering major project delivery business.
Formerly I was the Director of Clinical Quality and Safety for the NSW Health System.
